New Brunswick

VW Bus.

Where do you spend most of your time?
On the beach.

MARIE LECLERC

MARIE LECLERC

Marie is an I.K.O. certified instructor & star of the Kiteboarding Instructional DVD “My Session.” She also owns & manages Elevation Kiteboarding School – with locations in both B.C & Baja. Her Kiteboarding style is a combination of grace & power, but her positive attitude is what truly makes her stand out from the crowd.

Where are you from?
A small town close to Quebec city.

What is your Boardsports background?
I did a lot of Snowboarding in Whistler. I still love it, but don’t get to go as much now that we live on the beach most of the year.

Who taught you how to Kiteboard?
My boyfriend Mark. I watched him & a friend learn first. There wasn’t anybody to teach them so they learned by trying, & making mistakes. It was a bit of an adventure. Then they gave me a kite and told me to go for it. I haven’t stopped since. It changed my life.

What motivates you to work so hard?
I just do what I really love, so it does not feel like hard work. I try to do the best I can, with everything I do. I think its great to see how happy people are when they get on the water, & on the board.

If you had a ticket anywhere, where would you go?
Somewhere windy with waves would be sweet. I don’t have one place in particular, I just want to see it all.

Any advice for somebody considering getting into the sport?
For sure take a lesson, then just go for it. Kiting is awesome!

Who do you look up to?
Mark for his riding & philosophy. All the girls that go for it! My mom for a lot of things.
